“Local Fair” The Local “”Feria de Santiago y Santa Ana” is celebrated at the end of July in Benalup. Different events such as “Ladies Day”, Spanish Music, flamenco dancing, fair grounds and shows are some of the events that can be enjoyed in the warm evenings. This traditional Fair is dearly anticipated by the locals.
Independence party “Fiesta de la Independencia” Without a doubt this is one of the most popular event in the Village which is celebrated in March with a Cultural week full of events celebrating the segregation of Medina Sidonia which took place in 1991. It comes to a close with a 3 day street party starting with a typically Andalusian bull run, where bulls are released and the courageous run behind them (no animals are hurt nor tortured)
Museum “Las Cúpulas”, situated in the countryside of Las Lagunetas holds a series of wooden figures with African airs, sculpted by local sculptor Manuel Mañez, who in his lifetime made the museum within his home to expose his work. We recommend you to have lunch in the nearby countryside Ventas, and enjoy the famous venison, wild boar, free range chicken and rice dishes.
